GOODBYE TO HEART SPACE STUDIOS
Heart Space Studios closed its doors at the end of 2015, after almost 5 years of offering ‘All Things Textile’ the venture has evolved into a new type of business. Over the last year the team at Heart Space has worked closely with Kaffe Fassett and his American publishers, to create his patchwork quilt designs that feature in his books. This lead directly from the book “Little Ribbon Patchwork and Applique” that was written and illustrated by Janet Haigh for Heart Space Studios and used Kaffe Fasett’s ribbons.
Janet, the owner of Heart Space, is now returning to her home studios to develop her own new textile projects. She will also project-manage the making of the quilts to be featured in the book published in 2017, by liaising with Kaffe in his studios in London. Meanwhile she is scheduled to conduct drawing textile workshops at the RWA in Bristol, also in America ; as well as textile workshops at The American Museum in Britain, in Bath.
Instead of the Heart Space website you can soon keep up to date with Heart Space news on Janet’s blog – https://janethaigh.wordpress.com/. You will also be able to buy selective items from this blog, such as the Studios’ book, Little Ribbon Patchwork and Appliqué. Janet is already making plans for a sequel! – So the concept of ‘Heart Space’ will remain very much alive through Janet’s future projects.

It’s an ill wind….. so prior to selling the premises in Bristol there will be a sale of all sorts of workshop fixtures and fittings, plus books, fabrics, yarns and all things textile from Thursday 4th February to Saturday 6th February 2016. We will be open 10am – 4pm on each of these three days.
The team who currently run Heart Space, Helen Cobby, Ilaria Padovani, Ceema McDowell, Paula New and Janet would like to thank all our past and present students, customers, party-goers and exhibitors who came and celebrated textiles with us for the past 5 years – by designing, making and just enjoying textile all aspects of in all its myriad forms.
